Sex Furniture: The Types That Actually Exist (and How to Choose)

“Sex furniture” sounds like one product. It is at least four, and they solve different
problems: a wedge changes the angle, a chair changes the height, an inflatable changes where you
can put it, and a swing changes what the ceiling has to carry.

Which one you want depends on the constraint you actually have — floor space, storage, a
ceiling you cannot drill, or simply the position you are trying to make comfortable.

Wedges and ramps

A wedge is a shaped cushion; a ramp is a longer incline. Both tilt the body, which is why they
are sold by angle and by size rather than by “firmness”. The established versions are foam with a
removable cover; the cheap versions are inflatable, which pack flat but move more.

Position enhancer chairs and stools

These are small stools with a shaped seat, usually with handrails and an adjustable height.
The listing language is consistently “position enhancer” rather than “chair” — the form factor is
closer to a step stool than to seating. Because they are compact and free-standing, they are the
option for a room where nothing can be mounted.

What to check before buying: the stated weight limit, whether the height adjusts, and whether
the cover comes off. All three are printed in the listing, and none of them is standardised.

Inflatable furniture

Inflatable sofas and wedges are the cheapest way into the category and the only version that
stores in a drawer. They are also the version that moves, squeaks and deflates. If the appeal is
“occasional use”, they are fine; if it is “every week”, they are not.

Swings

A swing is the one type that loads the building rather than the floor, which is why it has its
own guide — mounting, joists, stands and weight limits:

How to choose

  • Space: a swing needs ceiling height and a mounting point; a chair needs a
metre of floor; a wedge needs storage.
  • Load path: floor-standing furniture carries its own weight; a swing puts it
into a joist. Those are different installation problems.
  • Material: foam with a removable cover is cleanable; inflatable is wipe-only;
    PU leather cracks.
  • Weight limit: printed per product, not by category. Read it.
